Why are thermal imaging devices used for power station inspections

浏览数:156 发布于:2024-12-27

The use of thermal imaging equipment for power station inspections is mainly based on the following reasons:
1、 Detecting the heating issue of the equipment
1. Early warning of faults
-In power plants, electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, inverters, etc. have a certain temperature range during normal operation. When there are hidden faults inside the device, such as loose electrical connections, poor contact, overload, short circuit, or aging of internal components, it often leads to an increase in local resistance. According to Joule's law ($Q=I^ {2}Rt $, where $Q $is heat$ I $is the current$ R $is a resistor$ T $is time), which will generate abnormal heat accumulation.

-Thermal imaging instruments can quickly detect small changes in surface temperature of these devices. When the fault is still in the early stages and has not yet developed into a serious fault causing equipment shutdown or damage, abnormal temperature points can be detected, providing a basis for timely maintenance and effectively avoiding further expansion of equipment faults, reducing equipment maintenance costs and power generation losses caused by equipment faults.

2. Accurate fault location
-The structure of power station equipment is complex, especially large power equipment with numerous connecting components and circuit elements inside. When equipment malfunctions, traditional inspection methods may be difficult to determine the exact location of the fault.
-The thermal imaging device can clearly display abnormal temperature areas and accurately locate the specific location of faults, such as local overheating of transformer windings and overheating of contacts inside switch cabinets, by imaging the temperature distribution on the surface of the equipment. This facilitates targeted inspection and repair by operation and maintenance personnel.

2、 Improve inspection efficiency
1. Large scale rapid detection
-The scale of a power station is usually large, containing a large number of equipment and facilities. Thermal imagers can quickly scan large areas from a distance without touching the equipment.
-For example, for large solar photovoltaic power plants, thermal imagers can inspect numerous photovoltaic modules in a short period of time, quickly detecting components with thermal spot effects (due to damage or obstruction of some solar cells, resulting in abnormal temperature rise in the area). However, if manual inspection or traditional electrical detection methods are used, it will consume a lot of time and manpower.

2. Non contact detection is safe and convenient
-The thermal imaging instrument adopts a non-contact detection method, which does not require direct electrical connection or physical contact with the equipment.
-When inspecting high-voltage equipment (such as high-voltage switchgear and transmission lines in substations), this non-contact detection method can avoid the risk of electric shock for inspection personnel, and will not interfere with the operation status of the equipment, ensuring the personal safety of inspection personnel and the normal operation of the equipment. The operation is simple and convenient, reducing the preparation work and time cost of inspection.

LAILX is committed to the research and production of photovoltaic testing equipment, including EL testing series, portable EL detectors, string EL detectors, drone EL testers, IV power testing series, portable IV testers, power quality analyzers, and other related photovoltaic power station testing equipment and photovoltaic production line laboratory testing equipment.
